Hello from Virginia! - AngelaVA - 11-07-2010

Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a stay at home Mama to a wonderful 4 1/2 year old girl with SPD and a 20 month old girl who so far I think is pretty neurotypical (but also wonderful of course Wink ). We do occupational therapy and biomedical treatment and are casein, soy, gluten and food coloring free. We also home school using Oak Meadow kindergarten curriculum. My daughter with SPD also loves art and gymnastics and is sort of overwhelmingly precocious in many areas. As for me, when I am not busy with all of the above a love playing around with Photoshop and digital scrapbooking (I'm sure I'll have an avi up here soon). Looking forward to chatting with you!

Hi, Angela! Nice to see another digiscrapper around here! Wink I look forward to seeing some of your work! It's kinda small yet, but we have a gallery (linked at the top of the page) where you can post some of your creations. I'd love to see them!

It sounds like you're doing so many of the things I'd love to do for my son but can't quite manage (my son seems neurotypical, but I have SPD.). I would love to homeschool, for instance. My son is only 2, so we're early in deciding that, but I'd love to hear more about how you do that and how well it works for your angels. Big Grin And while I know little to nothing about diet modifications, there are some *really* knowledgeable people around here that do. And lots of people asking questions about it. Wink

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi. Looking forward to chatting with you, too! hug

Thanks, I just looked and I think found your pages. I love them! I will try to compress and post a couple I made this weekend.

Hello! I'm AngelaVA's husband. She just told me about this board tonight and I figured I'd also set up an account and see what I can learn from the Dad's perspective (as well as reference any good stuff found since I have trouble remembering it all!)

Any particular SPD challenges that you want assistance in figuring out?

Thanks, I originally posted my question in the OT section. We are just trying to figure out how to keep the occupational therapy thing going in a way that works for our family. DD has retained primitive reflexes and OT was helping her a lot but our darn insurance is really limited in terms of how many sessions they will pay for and at $120 a session, we can't keep paying out of pocket for it every week, not to mention the fact that it's a heck of a long road trip to get there each week, we need to cut back to a couple times a month or so. I have observed the therapist and most of the fine motor and crossing the midline stuff I can imitate at home easily enough but the activities using special swings extremely helpful to her and kind of hard to imitate. I wanted to know if others had success with setting up swings at home, how you set it up and what safety precautions you took.
